Love Hard Laugh Harder

Life is short, love hard and laugh harder

New Year, New Experiences

The key to not growing old is to keep moving, learning, and having fun. As someone who has become somewhat of a shut-in since 2020, I’ve been working on having new experiences and getting out more often.

In that spirit, when a friend invited me to an event to make candles, I said Heck, yes! Sign me up. I’d never made a candle before, and then I made two! They smell amazing and have now cured enough that I can start lighting them if I feel inclined.

With that in mind, one of my sisters and I are taking Italian classes. We are committed to learning the language of our ancestors. We meet in person once a week for two hours with a teacher. Then, we practice together during the week and utilize tools like DuoLingo and Rosetta Stone to reinforce what we are learning.

I adore learning and have fallen in love with languages. Years ago, I was nearly fluent in Spanish, and I am practicing it with language apps. My goal is to be trilingual. I love the idea of traveling and conversing in languages beyond English.

While I am not one to proclaim, “New year, new me,” I am looking to broaden my experiences. To find connection and community and continue to grow.
